21 Days Java – Toraja
– Bali Overland Tour
Day 1 Jakarta
Arrival (D)
Meet and
greet upon arrival then transfer to hotel. Rest of the day is free for you to
explore the city on your own. Dinner and overnight at hotel.
Day 2 Jakarta – Bandung (B,L)
Breakfast at
hotel. Leaving
Jakarta to Bandung with some visits to Bogor Botanical Garden and tea
plantations at Puncak Pass. Lunch enroute. Then proceed to Bandung for overnight.
Day 3 Bandung (B,L)
After
breakfast fullday excursion to Lembang, a cool mountain for resort north of
Bandung noted for its flower and vegetable fields. Continue to visit Tangkuban
Perahu ’drive-in crater’, Bandung’s most wellknown nature attraction. Bathing
opportunity at Sariater Hotsprings at Padasuka. On the way back to hotel visit
the bamboo music school of Pak Udjo.
Day 4 Bandung – Baturaden (B,L)
Breakfast at
hotel. Leaving hotel for Baturaden. On the way visit Cangkuang Lake and Temple.
Stop to visit Naga Village, a traditional compound which still preserve its old
customs and traditions, and Tasikmalaya noted for its bamboo plaited
handicrafts. Late afternoon arrive at Baturaden and stay overnight.
Day 5 Baturaden – Yogyakarta (B,L)
After breakfast
depart to Yogyakarta. On the way visit Dieng
Plateau. Here are found some of oldest Hindu Temples of Java. The plateau was
formed by the eruption of a huge volcano many millenia ago, but remains active
until today. Then continue the trip to visit the majestic Buddhist Temple
Borobudur. Arrive at Yogyakarta and direct check in to hotel.
Day 6 Yogyakarta (B,D)
Sightseeing
Yogyakarta, the centre of Javanese arts and culture. Visit the Sultan’s Palace,
Batik workshop, Leather handicrafts, Bird market, and the silverworks at
Kotagede. In the afternoon, visit Prambanan Temple, the most beautiful Hindu
temple in Indonesia. Dinner with dance performance.
Day 7 Yogyakarta – Malang (B,L)
Breakfast at
hotel. Leave Yogyakarta for Malang in East Java province via Solo another
center of Javanese culture. Then to visit the erotic Sukuh Temple, the
waterfall at Tawangmangu, and Lake Serangan. Afterwards proceed to Malang where
you will stay overnight.
Day 8 Malang – Bromo (B,L)
Breakfast at
hotel. Morning sightseeing to Batu, wellknown as the little Switzerland with a
lots of flowers, apple orchard and sightseeing at Malang. Afterwards visit Jago
Temple and Singosari Temple, proceed to Sukapura your base to explore Mount
Bromo.
Day 9 Bromo – Surabaya (B,D)
Wake-up call
at 03.00 in the morning then a short drive will take you to Cemoro Lawang. From
here riding on horse back for 30 minutes across the sand sea to the foot of
Mount Bromo, then climb the 245 staircase up to the rim of the volcano. After
this venture, return to hotel for a hot bath and breakfast. Then depart to
Surabaya. Dinner and overnight at hotel.
Day 10 Surabaya – Makassar (B,L,D)
Breakfast at
hotel. Transfer to airport for flight to Makassar. Meeting service and direct
city sightseeing to visit the Fort Rotterdam, a compound built by the Dutch as
the center of government and trade, Paotere anchorage where the Bugis sailboat
harbour, and to Pantai Losari, more than a mile long seafront boulevard
frequented by the locals to watch the sunset. Dinner at fine seafood
restaurant.
Day 11 Makassar – Sengkang (B,L,D)
The overland
starts with a visit to Bantimurung Waterfall, located in a steep limestone
valley with lush vegetation popularly known by the scientist as the ’Butterfly
Valley’. Brightly colored ornithoid butterflies, indigenous to this area, are
considered among the most beautiful in the world. Sengkang, known for their
traditional silk industry, and try to catch the beautiful view at sunset by
taking a boat ride at Lake Tempe. Dinner with a Buginese dance performance.
Day 12 Sengkang – Tana Toraja (B,L,D)
Drive to
Palopo, an important fishing port at Bay Bone. Also visit a traditional silk
weaving home industry. After lunch at Palopo, drive two hours to Rantepao
through the mountain range and wind down a road that offers superb views. As
the first encounter withToraja, you will visit Nanggala, a traditional village
with 14 big rice barns in front of two Toraja houses of the former King of
Nanggala.
Day 13 Tana Toraja (B,L,D)
A full day
excursion exploring highlights of the region. Visit the cliff graves at Lemo
where the burial chambers are cut of the rock and several balconies are filled
with ’Tau-Tau’, effigies of the dead. At the ancient cave graves of Londa many
members of the local nobility are buried. Stop at Ke’te Kesu, a traditional
village famous for its woodcarving and paintings. Visit the market of Rantepao
with arrays of handicraft and souvenir shops.
Day 14 Tana Toraja (B,L,D)
Visit
Pallawa to see beautiful ’Tongkonan’ or Toraja houses. Afterwards, drive up to
Batutumonga, situated 1,300 meters above sea level, worth for the superb views
of Rantepao and surrounding valleys. After a light lunch, start a two or three
hours nature walk to explore infrequently visited tourist paths through small
village compounds, plantations of coffee, vanilla, cloves, bamboo trees, and
walk through the rice field. It is truly beautiful descent to Tikala, where the
car is awaiting to transport you back to the hotel.
Day 15 Tana Toraja – Makassar – Seminyak (B,L)
Transfer to
Makassar. Stop for refreshment at Bambapuang and view the ’erotic mountain’.
Lunch at Pare Pare with ample opportunity for photo stops on the way to
airport. Flight to Denpasar. Meeting service then transfer to Seminyak for beach stay.
Day 16-20 Seminyak (B)
Breakfast at
hotel. Rest of the day is free at own leisure.
Day 21 Bali Departure (B)
Breakfast at
hotel. Free program until transfer to the airport for your onwards flight.
