20 Days Sumatra – Java
– Bali
Day 1 : Medan Arrival – Bohorok
Arrive at Medan Airport. Meet and
greet at the airport then drive north westward for about 2½ hours to Bohorok.
En route passing through several small towns followed by vast view of rubber and
oil palm plantations with some countryside landscape. Arrive in Bohorok, start a
soft trekking to see Orang Utan. First walk along the riverbank to the crossing
point and cross the river by small canoe to the Orang Utan Rehabilitation Center.
Hike up the hill through the rain forest to see the activities of those
illegally captured and young Orang Utans which are trained to return to their
natural habitat. Afterwards check in hotel.
Day 2 : Bohorok
– Brastagi (B)
After breakfast, transfer to Medan via
rubber and oil-palm plantation road then continue to Brastagi – a highland
resort with its refreshing weather and magnificent mountain scenery, through
some part of the lush tropical rain forest of Sumatra. Reaching Brastagi, visit
Peceran – a village with a number of traditional houses that are still being
used. Then visit the fruit market of Brastagi. Then check in hotel.
Day 3 : Brastagi
– Samosir (B)
Depart for Parapat – a famous lake
resort lies on the east shore of Lake Toba. See the slender Sipiso-piso
Waterfall drops into the northern tip shore of Lake Toba from hundred meter
height. Visit the ancient King’s Palace of Simalungun at Pematang Purba.
Proceed to Parapat through the fertile vegetable and fruit farms, pine tree
forest and spectacular view of Lake Toba along most part of the journey. Arrive
in Parapat, cross to Samosir Island a huge lovely island in the middle of Lake
Toba, in 45-minute ferry ride. Arrive in Samosir Island, check in hotel.
Day 4 : Samosir
Island Tour (B)
After breakfast, start for Samosir
Island Tour by boat. Visit the Tomb of King Sidabutar and Batak Toba Village at
Tomok. Then to Ambarita, a traditional village with ancient megalithic
furniture in front of the traditional house. Before return to hotel begin the
cycling trip to explore more the island.
Day 5 : Samosir
– Medan (B)
After breakfast return to Medan, the
capital city of North Sumatra which is about 175 km away. En route, first hour
pass by several small towns : Pematang Siantar and Tebing Tinggi, and then followed
by vast view of rubber, oil palm, cacao plantations and paddy terraces. Arrive
in Medan, city tour of Medan. Check in hotel.
Day 6 : Flight
to Jakarta (B)
Free at own activities until time to
be transfered to airport for afternoon flight to Jakarta with Air Asia. Meeting
services upon arrival, then transfer directly to hotel. Rest of the day is free
at own leisure.
Day 7 : Jakarta
– Bandung (B)
Breakfast at hotel. The overland tour
will start this morning with a visit to National Monument, Old Batavia then to
colorful harbour of Sunda Kelapa before leaving to Bandung. In Bogor, visit the
wellknown Botanical Garden and stop to see the tea plantations at Puncak Pass,
then proceed to Bandung for overnight.
Day 8 : Kawah
Putih and Ciwidey Tour (B)
A scenic drive to Ciwidey Valley,
south of Bandung, to visit the white crater of Mount Patuha, a sulphuric
hotspring. Return to hotel in afternoon.
Day 9 : Train
to Yogyakarta (B)
After breakfast transfer to railway
station for a scenic train to Yogyakarta. Check in hotel for overnight. Rest of
the day is free at own leisure.
Day 10 : Borobudur
& Village Life (B)
Breakfast at the hotel, spent the day
exploring Borobudur Temple (UNESCO World Heritage Site) and discover this
majestic Buddhist shrine which often hailed at one of the world architectural
masterpiece. Later on visiting near by Mendut Temple and also explore to near
by villages to gain insight on local traditions and culture.
Day 11 : Prambanan
& Countryside Cycling (B)
After breakfast, drive to Kaliurang,
the starting point of the 2-hours cycling trip through the lovely countryside
passing tranquil hidden villages, rice fields etc. Later on visit the elegant
Hindu shrine complex of Prambanan (UNESCO World Heritage Site), which was
constructed in 9th century dedicated to the Hindu Trinity. Also visit Plaosan
and Kalasan Temples near by before returning to hotel.
Day 12 : Train
to East Java (B)
After breakfast, get on a ’becak’ (three wheeled pedicab) to a vibrant
local market to see how local trades and their daily activities. Later on walk
on to Sultan’s Palace and visit Tamansari (ruins of Water Palace). If time
allows visit some handicrafts centre on the way back to hotel. At around 3pm
embark on an executive train to Surabaya. Check in at hotel at old quarter.
Day 13 : Surabaya
– Bromo (B)
After breakfast, proceed on a city
tour featuring an ancient Chinese Temple, a traditional spice market and take a
short stroll in Arab Quarter with its open-air bazaar. Next drive to House of
Sampoerna and continue to Tosari. Check in at hotel on the lower slope of Mount
Bromo.
Day 14 : Mount
Bromo Climbing (B)
Early morning excursion by Jeep/4x4 to
Penanjakan viewpoint to see the sunrise (weather allows), drive further down to
caldera and walking across sand sea to reach Mount Bromo (Note: pony ride is available
with surcharge). Afterwards return to hotel for breakfast and shower before
moving on to Kalibaru by way of lovely countryside views. Check in hotel for
overnight.
Day 15 : Kalibaru
– Ubud (B)
After
breakfast at the hotel start for walking around plantation to see many exotic
tropical plants i.e. coffee, rubber, nutmeg are grown in the region. Later move
onward to Ketapang harbor for ferry to Bali. In
late afternoon arrive in Ubud Village, which is recognized as cultural centre
of Bali. Check in hotel for overnight.
Day 16 : Cycling
Trip (B)
Take in the colorful
scenery of Ubud with a cycling expedition. Using new mountain bikes and safety
equipment, the cycling trips offer a relaxed, restful way to see beautiful
island by venturing off the main routes through little-used paths and secret
backroad trails. Visiting remote village communities, discover the warm
hospitality of local people, and witness the fantastic panoramic view of
terraced ricefields. Return to hotel.
Day 17 : Mount
Batur Climbing (B)
For the more
experienced hiker, the volcano climbing is a challenge. At night, by torch
light, a well-trained guide will master you to hike the still active volcano
Mount Batur 1,717 meters above sea level. The reward of this hike is the
breathtaking daybreak with the whole of Bali spread dramatically beneath your
feet. Afterwards drive to Padang Bai for beach holiday. Check in hotel for
overnight.
Day 18 : Free
Program at Padang Bai (B)
Breakfast at hotel. Rest of the day is
free at own leisure.
Day 19 : Free
Program at Padang Bai (B)
Breakfast at hotel. Rest of the day is
free at own leisure.
Day 20 : Bali Departure (B)
Free at own activities until time to
